Visit by Students from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

In October, #TeamCOPEG welcomed fourteen students from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Panama, who, accompanied by their professor, toured several COPEG facilities. It was truly a pleasure to share our work with them.

During their visit, the students had the opportunity to learn about COPEG’s operations and gain insight into the preparation of the insect diet. They also observed a ground release demonstration of sterile flies conducted by the Field Methods Development team in the lagoon area. Additionally, they participated in insect identification tests with the support of experts from the Screwworm Diagnostic and Identification Unit (UDI).

COPEG’s General Directors — Dr. Enrique Samudio for Panama and Dr. Celia Antognoli for the U.S. — along with Technical Directors Dr. Rafael González (Panama) and Ms. Pamela Phillips (U.S.), addressed the students with motivational words, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning and growth in their careers, especially in such a challenging field as veterinary medicine.

We thank the students and their professor for their visit and hope they enjoyed the experience as much as we did.
We wish them great success in their journey through Veterinary Medicine!
